The ‘King of Corridos Tumbados’ reacted to the warning from “Los Mata Salas” in Sonora with a controversial message that has alarmed his followers on social networks
Mexican singer Natanael Cano, known for being one of the main exponents of Corridos Tumbados, reacted ironically to a direct threat against him made by the criminal group called “Los Mata Salas”, generating great concern among his thousands of fans who believe that he should not take lightly a ‘warning of being shot’.
The message was spread through a narco-banner placed in the city of Hermosillo, Sonora, during the early hours of January 5. In the text, the artist and other musicians from the region were accused of collaborating financially with a rival organization, known as “Los Salazar”, and they were warned that, if they did not stop these alleged actions, they would be executed.

The Salazars mob along with independent traffickers support you guys economically. In addition, you also have government influence. This will be your last warning. Take advantage of it before we have to knock you out of your fantasy world.
Focus on doing what you do best. Which is being a musician. Pay attention, what you’re doing isn’t about producing narco ballads. It’s about you guys collaborating with dirty money or partaking in any legal actions. You will be shot to death if you refuse to heed this warning.
Sincerely, The Jalisco Anti Salazars Mob
The message, signed by the Mata Salaz mob, an armed wing of Cartel de Caborca, included an explicit warning directed at musicians, local groups and influencers from various cities in Sonora, such as Hermosillo, Guaymas, Ciudad Obregón and Navojoa.
Among the names mentioned in the message, in addition to Natanael Cano, were other well-known artists of the Mexican regional genre, such as Tito Torbellino Jr. and Javier Rosas, who were also accused of having ties to “Los Salazar.” The situation generated concern in the artistic community of the region, given the direct and threatening tone of the statement.
Far from showing fear, Natanael Cano chose to respond sarcastically through his social networks. The singer published a story on his Instagram account in which he shared an image of two blankets printed with his photograph, accompanied by the message:
“The only blankets that worry me right now,” followed by a laughing emoji. In addition, he added in a humorous tone: “(What if they get hot?)”. The publication was accompanied by the song “AFS”, a track that is part of his musical repertoire.

However, Natanael Cano fans ask the singer to “not take lightly” death threats from drug traffickers, as there is a long history of artists who have had conflicts with criminal groups in Mexico and in most cases the warnings are fulfilled.
“Nata, I love you, but you need to tone down your bravery because we already know how this can end.” “I am worried that you think you’re unreachable when we already know that in magical Mexico anything can happen.” “Nata, don’t get too comfortable, take care of yourself and stay away from these assholes.” “I don’t say this negatively but it’s for the best that you just focus on making music for us, the message says there that they aren’t even bothered by the lyrics of the narco ballads,” can be read on social media.
