In Sinaloa, the Secretariat of the Navy detained 13 alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel during an operation conducted in the vicinity of the Tepic-Mazatlán highway, near El Rosario.
According to authorities, based on the area of influence, it is presumed that the detainees belong to the faction known as “La Chapizza.”
The operation was spearheaded by naval personnel in coordination with the Army, the National Guard, and federal and state law enforcement agencies.
During surveillance patrols, security personnel came under fire from armed civilians; they subsequently repelled the attack and successfully apprehended the suspects.
In this operation, authorities seized 12 long guns, 1,940 rounds of ammunition, 96 magazines, three improvised explosive devices, 11 tactical vests, and 10 ballistic plates.
