Threatening messages were found in Sonora in which Governor Alfonso Durazo Montaño is mentioned, as they claim that police officers are related to a group known as Los Salazar, which has been linked to the Sinaloa Cartel.
It was in at least three points of the municipality of Caborca that the narco messages were deployed in which specific agents are pointed out and that appeared on February 2.
“Alfonso Durazo, if you want peace in Sonora, end the corrupt and unprepared elements “Salazar’s cronies in charge of groups that have only been clearing the way for their cronies and setting up drug sales points in our cities (sic)”, is part of what is stated in the message.

According to the banners, state police are at the service of the aforementioned criminal group, even under the “protection” of a commander, who allows the criminals to operate with impunity.
Likewise, images circulated on social media showing security elements removing the banners, including the municipality’s welcome letters.

The Salazars, their relationship with the Sinaloa Cartel and the accusations against Natanael Cano
It is worth remembering that this isn’t the first time that threatening messages in Sonora speak about Los Salazar and the alleged support they receive, last January a banner signed by a criminal cell known as Los Matazalas appeared.
The message mentioned the corrido singer Natanael Cano, who was accused of allegedly supporting Los Salazar. This caused the authorities to provide protective measures for the singer.
“Dedicate yourselves to what you do, which is the profession of being musicians (…). If you don’t pay attention to this warning, you will be shot,” is part of the message found. Afterwards, on January 27, new messages appeared against Natanael Cano and other singers.
The criminal activities of Los Salazar are linked to drug trafficking to the United States, reports indicate that the group was created by Adán Salazar Zamorano, alias Don Adán.
Don Adán was extradited to the US in 2023, when they were identified as a group close to Los Chapitos, one of the factions of the Sinaloa Cartel. In addition, Los Salazar are accused of the crime of migrant trafficking in association with the so-called Pacific Cartel.
However, more recent reports indicate that Los Salazar have left their alliance with Los Chapitos.
