Michoacán experienced a violent day marked by reports of clashes, vehicle burnings, and attacks against security personnel across the municipalities of Queréndaro, Apatzingán, and Zamora. The violence began with reports of a clash between organized crime groups in the locality of El Calvario, within the municipality of Queréndaro.
The conflict subsequently spread to Sinapecuaro, extending onto the federal highway. Residents of the El Calvario community reported hearing gunfire and observing vehicle movements over the course of several hours.
It was reported that along the Francisco Villa highway stretch, armed civilians set fire to a vehicle in an attempt to block security forces from entering the clash zone. Personnel from the Civil Guard, National Guard, and the Ministry of Defense were deployed to the municipalities of Queréndaro and Sinapecuaro to restore order and secure access routes.
Subsequently, an armed attack against municipal police and Civil Guard officers was reported—this time along the Apatzingán-Acahuato highway. This armed assault resulted in a preliminary toll of two injured officers. The incident occurred while the agents were conducting routine surveillance patrols; they were intercepted by armed civilians who opened fire upon them.
Following the attack, state and federal agencies launched a major security operation in the region, while the perpetrators managed to escape. Later that day, an organized crime group ambushed Civil Guard officers in the municipality of Zamora.
This attack took place in the community of Estancia de Amezcua, where armed civilians assaulted the officers while they were conducting a preventive security operation. Reports of the incident triggered the mobilization of emergency and security agencies.
The Michoacán Attorney General’s Office reported that six police officers were injured in this attack, as was a young bystander who sustained collateral injuries; all are currently receiving medical attention. Institutional personnel were dispatched to the scene to conduct the necessary ministerial and forensic investigations.
