Welcome to cartelinsider.com, where we bring you the latest news and updates on the world of cartels and criminal organizations. In this post, we will be discussing the recent shooting attack on independent journalist Federico Hans, also known as “El Güero Hans”, in the municipality of Caborca, Sonora. The incident, which occurred on July 17th, has once again shed light on the dangerous and at times deadly work of journalists who are committed to exposing corruption and violence in the region.
According to initial reports, armed individuals opened fire on Hans as he was getting into his car outside his home. Despite sustaining injuries, he was able to survive the attack and is currently in stable condition, receiving medical attention and police protection. The local authorities are currently investigating the incident and have assured the public that they will keep them informed of any progress.
Hans, who is also the editor of the newspaper El Observador, has been known for his coverage on cases of corruption and violence in the area where the Caborca Cartel and Sinaloa Cartel operate. In fact, during a previous armed confrontation in Caborca, Hans was one of the first journalists on the scene and captured a chilling moment on live broadcast where a 20-year-old begged for his life before being taken away and later found dead.
This recent attack on Hans highlights the dangerous conditions that journalists in Mexico face while reporting on drug cartels and organized crime. We will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they become available.
