A security operation in northern Tijuana, Baja California, resulted in a major setback for drug traffickers as federal agents confiscated nearly half a ton of cocaine attempting to cross the border in a trailer.
Elements of the Mexican Army, National Guard, and State Citizen Security Force responded to an alert from the C-4 Monitoring Center about an abandoned truck in the Abelardo L. Rodriguez Airport neighborhood.
Initially investigating the potential presence of migrants inside the trailer, agents instead discovered 450 rectangular packages wrapped in paper and plastic, containing a total of 455 kilograms of cocaine.
While unofficial sources suggest the drug belonged to the Sinaloa Cartel and was intended to be smuggled into the United States through the Otay Mesa Border Crossing, authorities have yet to confirm this information.

Prior to the cocaine seizure in Tijuana, the Mexican Army and the National Guard detained a man identified as Isaías “N” in San Luis Río Colorado, Sonora.
Isaías is believed to be an operator for the Sinaloa Cartel, responsible for sending and distributing drugs from Sinaloa to the Tijuana border.
The detainee was driving a trailer when federal agents pulled him over and discovered 321 packages of cocaine in the cargo area.
The packages, without a specified final weight, were handed over to the competent authorities for further investigation.
In other operations conducted in the states of Querétaro and Jalisco, federal authorities arrested Carlos Alberto “N,” also known as “El Químico,” and Guillermo Isaías “N,” alias “El Cachanilla.” El Químico was identified as a manufacturer of synthetic drugs, and El Cachanilla was recognized as a buyer of chemical precursors.
The arrest of El Químico, according to the newspaper Milenio, occurred in the Santa Fe neighborhood of Querétaro.
Authorities found various chemical precursors from China and India, as well as several animals presumed to have been used in experiments to test the drugs he created.
Regarding El Cachanilla, his role within the Sinaloa Cartel involved purchasing chemical precursors through a front company.
These precursors were then delivered to El Químico upon arrival at the ports of Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas to manufacture methamphetamine and fentanyl.

During the first half of 2024, Mexican authorities confiscated 3,456,172 fentanyl pills, 262.381 kilograms, and 798 liters of the powerful opioid in Sinaloa, according to a report released by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
In addition to fentanyl, authorities seized 7,987 kilograms of various drugs including marijuana, heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine.
They also confiscated 62,687 kilograms and 95,897 liters of chemical substances used in the production of synthetic drugs.
Moreover, two significant blows were dealt to the Sinaloa Cartel. First, authorities dismantled drug laboratories in Culiacán.
Second, they seized 88 tons of a chemical intended for synthetic drug production that had entered the port of Manzanillo. Both operations were presumably aimed at the faction led by Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada.
