Ricardo Ruiz Velasco, also known as ‘El Doble’ or ‘El Tripa’ o ‘El Tripas’, has been identified by the Mexican government as a key figure within the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), holding the position of regional leader of the criminal group in strategically important states for the organization.
Aguascalientes, Michoacán, Guanajuato, and San Luis Potosí are some of the states that are under their command, where they are in charge of drug trafficking activities, as well as the transport of narcotics.
Their presence in these areas highlights the territorial expansion and reinforcement of operations of the CJNG in the country, directly confronting rival organizations such as La Familia Michoacana.
The musical group, Los Alegres del Barranco, were inspired by their criminal career to compose a song, in which they recount how their beginnings were, as well as their current situation within the organization of the four letters.
“I’ve gone through a lot, and I don’t forget the good and bad things that have marked me. There was everything when I was down, and even though I’ve changed, my defining feature has always been humility and a greater trait,” begins the song.

In the song, Ruiz Velasco is always portrayed as a loyal person to the leaders of the Jalisco group, who are the family of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, also known as ‘El Mencho’, as well as Juan Carlos Valencia González, the stepson of the boss, who could potentially become his successor, when the time comes.
Two letters sound, two consonants that are the ones that give the key, and I am of war, I have principles that my father instilled in me, I am four letters, I am ‘Double R’, in case you want to ask, that’s the answer”, the melody continues.
This excerpt of the melody talks about their devotion, which is towards Saint Jude Thaddeus, the saint to whom the majority of drug traffickers entrust themselves, in addition to assuring that they have always remained humble despite the changes in their life due to the profits from organized crime.
My Saint Juditas has protected me, through so many turns, that I must safeguard the lives of my children. That is my goal, I am ‘Double R’ and although I have achieved a lot, I do not let go of the ground,” the song continues.

At the song’s end, the authors talk about ‘El Mencho,’ as well as Rubén Oseguera González ‘El Menchito,’ the latter arrested in 2015 and extradited to the United States.
To close the melody, ‘El Doble R’ boasts his pride in belonging to the most powerful criminal organization in Mexico, which controls most states.
“For don Mencho and his son, loyalty will be eternal, as the fifty horns and RPGs are tempting them, with just one alert enough to activate them, shouting loudly: ‘pure four letters’,” the song concluded.
