The detainee faces an arrest warrant for a homicide committed in March 2024 in Valle de Allende.
Following the capture of Jesús Heriberto R.O., alias “El Maro”—considered a high-priority target and a key driver of violence in the state’s southern region—the Southern Zone District Attorney’s Office secured a precautionary measure of pretrial detention against him. During the investigation, prosecutors argued that he was the alleged leader of “Los Chapitos”—a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel—thereby deeming this precautionary measure necessary.
The initial hearing took place on Tuesday, May 26, in a courtroom of the Judiciary branch based in Hidalgo del Parral, where the Public Prosecutor presented the necessary evidence to secure the order for pretrial detention.
The capture of Jesús Heriberto R.O., alias “El Maro,” was carried out during an intervention in the municipality of Valle de Allende, spearheaded by the Inter-institutional Operation Bases (BOI), after he was identified as one of the primary high-priority targets and instigators of violence in the region.
The arrest occurred on Monday, May 25, following the deployment of an operation involving personnel from the State Investigation Agency and the Mexican Army. Through ministerial investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Southern Zone District Attorney’s Office, these forces successfully located the alleged perpetrator in Valle de Allende.
An arrest warrant was executed against the detainee in connection with the homicide of an individual identified as José T.H., which occurred on March 9, 2024, in the aforementioned locality.
Following his capture, authorities seized a 2000 model Nissan Maxima vehicle, as well as an Apple brand cellular phone.
The District Attorney’s Office emphasized that, thanks to the coordinated inter-institutional efforts between police agencies and ministerial authorities, it was possible to locate the alleged perpetrator of high-impact crimes, while also ensuring security and access to justice for the victims.
