Authorities in Mexico City (CDMX) struck a blow to drug trafficking in the Iztapalapa borough, where they seized 100 kilograms of cocaine, packed into 90 bricks.
On the night of, Wednesday, March 13th in the Guadalupe del Moral neighborhood, where members of the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) detected a property on Pípila street being used as a drug warehouse.
Based on this, a search order was executed where 100 kilograms of drugs, two firearms (one long and one short), three cell phones, a gram scale, and a pair of bags with bundles of bills of different denominations (the approximate amount of money was not specified) were found.
According to Pablo Vazquez Camacho, manager of the SSC in Mexico City, the seized cocaine has a value in the illegal market of over 20 million pesos, he reported through social media.

After the seizure of the drugs, the property used as a drug warehouse was sealed and placed under police protection, while the cocaine and other secured items were left at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor to continue with the corresponding investigations.
The SSC pointed out that the drug warehouse was used by a “criminal cell dedicated to trafficking drugs from the state of Chiapas.” Although its name was not revealed, it was detailed that it used Mexico City as a provisional stop for the storage of narcotics.
Based on the investigations carried out, the authorities in the capital city became aware that this criminal organization used flatbed trucks to transport drugs, which were ultimately destined for the northern region of the country. “They used properties in Mexico City as temporary warehouses,” it was specified.

Although the SSC linked cocaine with a criminal group in Chiapas, images captured by Foro TV cameras show that some of the packages had a label with the initials “CJNG”, referring to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. However, the involvement of this criminal organization in these events has not been confirmed.
During these actions – in which elements of the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) participated – no individuals were reported arrested, therefore investigations will continue in order to determine responsibilities.
Intelligence reports from Mexico City indicate that the CJNG has a presence in the Gustavo A. Madero borough, primarily. The group with the most dominance in the capital is La Union Tepito, as they operate in eight different districts: Azcapotzalco, Benito Juarez, Coyoacan, Cuauhtemoc, GAM, Iztacalco, Miguel Hidalgo, and Venustiano Carranza.
