They met when they were both minors in a butcher’s shop.
Although little is known about Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada Garcia’s family, journalist Anabel Hernandez reported certain details about his wife, identified as Rosario Niebla Cardoza, in her book “El Traidor: El Hijo Secreto del Mayo Zambada (“The Traitor: The Secret Son of Mayo Zambada”), originally published in 2019.
Rosario Niebla Cardoza – better known as “Chayito” – was reportedly born in the El Dorado syndicate, located in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on October 6, 1946, according to data from US intelligence agencies.
“Chayito” Niebla met the future father of her five children when they were both minors, after they both frequented the butcher shop where “El Mayo” Zambada used to work in his youth.
The two later married in a religious ceremony in the Sinaloa syndicate of Costa Rica when he was 17 years old and she was 19, and later formalized their civil marriage in El Dorado.
Who are Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada’s children?
According to Anabel Hernández, “Chayito” Niebla was a key figure in Zambada’s entry into the world of drug trafficking, as it was through a brother-in-law of his, involved in drug trafficking, that “El Mayo” made his first drug harvest.
The couple had at least five children: María Teresa, Midiam Patricia, Vicente, Mónica del Rosario and Modesta, who were identified by US authorities as participants in the criminal empire led by their father.
Sources also said that Chayito Niebla currently serves as the head of several companies located in Culiacán that have been linked to different types of crimes such as money laundering, among others.
