Families of other missing persons attribute this crime to El Bizcocho, who is in preventive detention for drug dealing, as one of the main participants in this crime.
Around midday on Thursday, the bodies of siblings Elizabeth, Abel, and Israel Soto Núñez, who disappeared on Monday, January 6, in the city of Aldama, were found dead alongside the highway at kilometer 57 of the toll road connecting Aldama and Ojinaga.
A citizen reported to the emergency number that there appeared to be three deceased individuals at that location on the highway; therefore, federal and state law enforcement officers immediately went to the scene, but found nothing. The municipal authorities of Aldama then notified the Ojinaga authorities, as the location was on the other side of the toll booth that divides the two municipalities.
Upon arriving at the site, municipal police officers from Ojinaga, along with agents from the National Guard and the National Defense, located the three bodies, confirming that they were two men and one woman. The woman was wrapped in what appeared to be pieces of blankets and plastic.
Hours later, it was confirmed that the bodies were those of the siblings Elizabeth, Abel, and Israel Soto Núñez, who disappeared on Monday, January 6, in the city of Aldama, when a heavily armed criminal cell allegedly entered their home and forcibly took them away.
Personnel from the state attorney general’s office confirmed that each had a gunshot wound to the head, but that the cause of death wouldn’t be determined until the corresponding post-mortem examinations were completed.
The state attorney general’s office officially reported the disappearance of Elizabeth, Abel, and Israel Soto Núñez on January 7. They were last seen on Monday, January 6, in the city of Aldama, where they were originally from.
Elizabeth was 45 years old, Abel Soto was 36 years old, and Israel Soto, the youngest of the three, was 35 years old at the time of their disappearance. It is worth remembering that in the municipality of Aldama, all the way to the corridor leading to Ojinaga, the criminal groups La Línea and Los Cabrera, the latter originally from Durango, have maintained an armed conflict for control of illicit activities in the region, which has generated a constant pattern of clashes and forced disappearances.
Just at the beginning of December 2025, in a community near Aldama, Roberto González Hernández, aka El 04, a lieutenant in Aldama for the Los Cabrera criminal group, was arrested. He has an outstanding extradition order to the United States.
At the same time that the bodies of the Soto Nuñez brothers were found in the state capital, relatives of people reported missing in Aldama, accompanied by activist Gabino Gómez, met with Attorney General César Jáuregui Moreno to specify that Ervey T. S., nicknamed El Bizcocho, could be involved in the disappearances.
“When this person was arrested, several of the families we represent, who have missing relatives in Aldama, began to contact us, expressing their concern because they know that he is linked to the group that is responsible for the disappearance of their family members,” commented Gabino Gómez, a member of the Women’s Human Rights Center in the state (Cedhem).
According to the activist, the families of the missing persons have been seeking contact with the state attorney general’s office since they learned of the man’s arrest. “We were with the prosecutor just now, and he told us that they are conducting an investigation, that they are indeed looking into what connections there are or what information can be obtained,” he said.
“I don’t know how many cases he may be linked to, but at least in five or six cases of missing persons in Aldama that we represent, the families say that everyone in that town knows who he is, who they are, so he must know the whereabouts of their relatives,” he commented.
Gabino Gómez commented that this was the purpose of the meeting, to make the request and to address the concerns of the families who were able to attend. El Bizcocho was arrested on December 30 in Aldama during operations and investigations to combat crime, conducted by personnel from the Model Unit for Addressing Kidnapping Crimes. At the time of his arrest, several portions of drugs were seized from him, and he was subsequently placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The hearing took place on January 1, where the Public Prosecutor from the Specialized Unit for Strategic Operations of the State Attorney General’s Office obtained an indictment against El Bizcocho for the crime of drug trafficking, specifically simple possession.
During the same arraignment hearing, and based on the evidence presented by the prosecution, the judge ruled to indict him and, consequently, ordered his pretrial detention.
