Delta 1, or Lucio, went into hiding while “things calmed down regarding the narco-tunnel” discovered between Juárez and El Paso last January.
Ulises Nache Trujillo, 41, murdered last Monday, was identified by personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) as the alleged leader of the criminal group “La Línea” on this border. Investigators haven’t ruled out an escalation of violence in the city, they warned on condition of anonymity.
Personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) told El Diario that the man also known as “Delta 1” or “Lucio” was the main operator of a group dedicated to extortion and kidnapping of migrants on this border. They didn’t rule out links with other criminal groups involved in the transportation of foreigners, mainly from Central and South America.
Nache Trujillo, who grew up on Estaño Street in the Gregorio M. Solís neighborhood, is also mentioned in the Federal Public Ministry’s (MPF) investigation file for the “narco tunnel” discovered just last January 10. However, Mexican authorities still lacked an arrest warrant for the victim for this investigation, according to reports.
FGR investigators detailed that Nache Trujillo left the country at the beginning of the year and remained in several Colombian cities, where he allegedly went into hiding while “things calmed down regarding the narco tunnel,” according to initial information gathered after the triple murder.
In his police record, Nache Trujillo has been sent to municipal jail for a fight, as well as being a victim of abuse of authority and robbery, was involved in a traffic accident, and faced charges for domestic violence.
He requested a criminal record clearance letter eight times without any problems and had a 2005 Nissan Titan pickup truck registered in his name.
This man was escorted by two municipal officers assigned to the motorcycle group, one of whom was carrying his service weapon; both active officers were allegedly off duty when they provided personal security to the alleged criminal leader.
Prosecutor Jáuregui Remains Silent
Attorney General César Jáuregui Moreno led the security meeting yesterday afternoon, which was held at the offices of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Women (FEM).
Representatives from the U.S. Consulate General in Juárez and heads of various state and municipal governments, as well as representatives from various civil society organizations, attended the meeting.
Previously, Jáuregui Moreno was questioned by El Diario regarding the progress of the investigation into the murder of Nache Trujillo and the two municipal police officers who were supposedly off duty and spending their free time guarding the alleged “coyote” leader.
“It’s an ongoing investigation, and I can’t provide details yet; it’s premature,” responded the head of the social representation in the state of Chihuahua.
Nearly 36 hours after the triple murder, no corporation has reported any arrests in connection with this incident.
FGE Sends Triple Murder Statement
Through a press release, the FGE officially reported that two of the victims were municipal police officers.
The official document reveals that the alleged leader of the main criminal group in the north of the state didn’t defend himself, and of his “bodyguards,” only one was armed.
“Through the radio operator on duty at the State Investigation Agency, on the night of August 11, a report was received of three men killed by firearms on the streets of the Jardines de Aragón neighborhood,” the statement reads.
Members of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat are responding as first responders.
An older black Dodge RAM single-cab vehicle was found on nearby streets with the driver’s door open, and inside, clearly visible, a firearm’s magazine and ammunition. Next to the pickup, on the street, was a 9mm pistol, as well as six spent shell casings.
Another newer black Dodge RAM double-cab vehicle was found with the driver’s door open. A dead male was discovered in front of this vehicle on the pavement.
A third light gray Honda vehicle was also seized.
Identities Released
In total, three dead males were found in three different locations as a result of the same incident, the statement said.
The official report fails to mention where the third body was found and who it belongs to.
Specialized personnel from the Directorate of Forensic Services and Forensic Sciences are processing the scene, where the following were found:
– An unidentified male, approximately 30 to 35 years old, whose personal identification cards in the name of Rigoberto P. E., a member of the SSPM, were found among his belongings.
– An unidentified male, approximately 30 to 35 years old, whose personal identification cards in the name of Miguel Eduardo G. S., a member of the SSPM, were found among his belongings.
– An unidentified male, approximately 35 to 40 years old.
The bodies were transferred to the Forensic Medical Service for a legal autopsy and the necessary analysis for subsequent identification.
Several spent shell casings of various calibers were seized and packaged at the scene for subsequent analysis.
This Tuesday, a video emerged showing several vehicles, including pickup trucks and a gray vehicle, in which a person can be seen practically hanging from the passenger door and falling to the pavement.
No police surveillance cameras were seen at the crime scene.
Secretary ‘regrets’ the situation
One week after members of the LeBaron community showed up at the municipal presidency to demand the dismissal of Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar and Secretary César Omar Muñoz Morales for allowing organized crime to infiltrate law enforcement, two preventive police officers were murdered while allegedly “escorting” a suspected criminal leader.
Former municipal police officer Galdino P. J., alias “El Monster,” was charged with alleged responsibility for the crimes of aggravated homicide, attempted aggravated homicide, criminal damage, femicide, attempted femicide, and arson with damage in the massacre that occurred on November 4, 2019, in the community of La Mora, Sonora.
And because of this incident, the corporation began firing police officers after the Honor and Justice Commission reached that resolution, Muñoz Morales previously told El Diario.
Yesterday, the police chief was questioned upon arriving at the meeting with the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), and said that “what happened yesterday (Monday) was regrettable.”
“We are collaborating with the State Attorney General’s Office to determine what the Secretariat officers were doing at the scene; we are working on the identification and the work of the civilian who also lost his life at the scene,” the preventive commander stated.
He pointed out that Miguel Eduardo Gallegos Salas, 31 years old, was discharged from the corporation on March 21, 2022 and was assigned to the group of four-wheelers that patrol the first part of the city and parking lots of shopping malls.
Rigoberto Pulido Escobedo, 32, was recruited on September 23, 2013, and was assigned to the same group as the other murdered member.
The SSPM, Muñoz Morales stated, did not issue any formal commission order for the slain officers, nor did it authorize the two preventive agents to provide protection services to the civilian targeted in the attack.
He mentioned that information about the two officers has already been handed over to the State Investigation Agency (AEI), which is investigating the triple murder.
