We head to Colima, where a confrontation took place that escalated into a chase and left two people dead. Take a look: This is how a shootout erupted between hitmen from the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, Marines, and Colima police officers—an exchange that resulted in two fatalities.
It all began in the early hours of yesterday morning, when two compact cars carrying six armed individuals arrived at a motel in the city of Colima. Shortly thereafter, a 911 call was placed reporting the presence of these individuals; minutes later, Marines and state police officers arrived at the scene, but as they entered the motel, they were met with gunfire.
The criminals jumped into their cars to flee the premises, while the federal and state agents exited their vehicles to attempt to return fire and repel the attack. The first white car sped out of the motel unscathed. Seconds later, the other car attempted to do the same but wasn’t as fortunate, as agents riddled it with bullets.
Despite this, the occupants managed to escape, initiating a high-speed chase heading toward the city of Guadalajara. During their escape, one of the criminals’ cars crashed; it was at this point that they were overtaken by the agents, who were once again met with gunfire.
While returning fire to neutralize the threat, the two hitmen traveling in that car were killed. The other four managed to escape. The objective of these individuals was to carry out an execution—to commit a homicide. Their primary activity—at least for this particular cell—is contract killing.
They specialize in carrying out homicides—in perpetrating murders—and that is their sole occupation. The Colima Secretariat of Security confirmed that one of the two deceased individuals was “El Huesos” (The Bones), one of the most violent hitmen for the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in that region.
The Secretariat also detailed that an FN Minimi light machine gun—capable of firing between 800 and 1,000 rounds per minute—was recovered at the scene where he was killed. They added that this marks the first time such a weapon has been detected in the possession of criminal cells operating in Colima.
