First: The relationship between the families of Ismael Mario Zambada García and Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera for over 50 years has been impeccable in respect and harmony, to the extent that there are godparents and marriages between the families.

Second: Approximately 4 years ago, talks began with the U.S. authorities about the possibility of voluntary surrender by the group.

These talks culminated in the surrender of Joaquín Guzmán López and Ismael Mario Zambada García, who recently surrendered voluntarily and without any pressure from any Mexican or American authority.

Therefore, we absolve the governments of Mexico and the United States of any responsibility, as the surrender to the U.S. government was voluntary and in accordance with our free and spontaneous decision. Therefore, there is no responsibility on the part of the governments of Mexico and the United States. We reiterate that it was a voluntary and personal surrender, without any coercion or pressure from any Mexican or American authorities.
