He is linked to homicides and extortion in the state of Morelos; authorities seized a handgun, a quantity of drugs, a vehicle, and a fake ID
Federal agents captured Homero Figueroa Meza, leader of the *Comando Tlahuica* and a former official in the Cuernavaca municipal government during Cuauhtémoc Blanco’s tenure as mayor.
The arrest took place at 11:28 a.m. on Saturday while “La Tripa” was driving a blue Jetta along Calle 7 in Cholula, Puebla, according to reports from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection.
“La Tripa” was detained in the vehicle; he was carrying a firearm, marijuana, crystal meth, and pills suspected to be fentanyl, as well as a fake ID, but he also had an outstanding arrest warrant for organized crime. Sandra “N” was also arrested.
This alleged drug trafficking leader came to public attention in 2022 when a photograph of him with Cuauhtémoc Blanco—a former soccer player and former governor of Morelos—was circulated.
The photograph also featured Irving Eduardo Solano (“El Profe”), leader of *Guerreros Unidos* (arrested in 2021), and Raymundo Isidro Castro (“El Ray”), a regional leader of the CJNG who was killed during a brawl at the Atlacholoaya prison.
Since then, “La Tripa” became a target for federal authorities, and the Morelos Attorney General’s Office opened an investigation file against Blanco.
The latter development cost former Morelos Attorney General Uriel Carmona his job and led to an investigation by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office regarding the alleged cover-up of the 2022 femicide of Ariadna Fernanda.
“La Tripa” is a key figure for understanding the drug trade in Morelos, as well as the extortion and murders of several mayors in the state.
Figueroa Meza is currently being held at the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) facility in Puebla, according to the National Detention Registry.
