José Alberto “N”, better known as La Kena or El Ciclón 19, identified as the leader of the Gulf Cartel (CDG), was transported under a large security operation to Tamaulipas. Aboard a helicopter from the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), La Kena will be incarcerated in a prison in Tamaulipas to respond to the charges of kidnapping four American citizens and the murder of two of them, among other crimes.
La Kena will face various charges, including the commission of multiple homicides and crimes against health. He is identified as a regional leader of the CDG in Nuevo Leon, Coahuila, Tamaulipas, and Zacatecas, with a contingent of more than 10,000 hired killers under his command. In addition, La Kena is accused of being the commander of the Scorpio group, a notorious detachment known for its extreme violence. Her capture occurred in San Pedro Garza Garcia, after being identified by a facial recognition system in a commercial store.

The detention resulted from a joint operation between the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard, Sedena, and the Navy. The authorities raided various properties, including a luxurious residence in San Pedro Nuevo León, to capture and collect evidence. Despite the lack of an official statement, details have been leaked to the media. La Kena was transferred to the Northern Airport before boarding a helicopter bound for Tamaulipas.
In an unprecedented operation, joint forces from infantry and the State Investigations Agency of Nuevo León captured a key suspect, identified as “La Kena,” in a department store in San Pedro Garza García, Monterrey, without the need for shots to be fired.

The capture of “La Kena”, and two companions was carried out strategically, and they are currently waiting at the Public Ministry of the common jurisdiction to define their legal situation.
These events could lead to a request from the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) or some US security agency due to their alleged involvement in the kidnapping of four American citizens in 2023.
This important progress followed the reward of 2.5 million pesos announced by the General Prosecutor’s Office of Tamaulipas for information that would facilitate its locating and capture.

The Mexican Navy had been tracking “La Kena” since September 2023 after she evaded capture during a confrontation in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
Despite close surveillance, the operation required maximum caution due to a security ring formed by hitmen that could endanger the civilian population. However, the opportunity for their arrest arose when “La Kena” entered the department store without her usual security escort.
