Authorities arrested six alleged members of Los Chapitos in Mazatlán, including ‘El Tío,’ identified as a financial operator for the criminal organization.
Ricardo Osuna Tirado, alias ‘El Tío’, was arrested alongside five other alleged members of a cell linked to Los Chapitos during an operation in Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
A joint operation by federal forces in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, resulted in the arrest of six alleged members of a cell linked to Los Chapitos. Among them was Ricardo “N,” alias ‘El Tío,’ identified as a financial operator and one of the criminal group’s key leaders in the municipality of La Cruz de Elota.
According to the Security Cabinet, the detainees also include a U.S. national allegedly linked to the same criminal structure.
Operation at two properties in Mazatlán
Authorities reported that the arrests were the result of intelligence and investigative work that identified two properties in Mazatlán used for illicit activities.
Personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), and the National Intelligence Center (CNI) participated in the operation as part of efforts to combat those driving violence in Sinaloa.
Weapons, drugs, and over $100,000 seized
During the operation, authorities seized firearms, magazines, ammunition, various doses of drugs, approximately $100,000 in cash, phones and computer equipment, as well as two vehicles and two properties. The six detainees were informed of their rights and placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine their legal status and compile the corresponding investigations.
The Security Cabinet stated that these actions aim to dismantle criminal structures linked to Los Chapitos, strengthen intelligence operations, and contribute to reducing violence in the country.
