Murdered State Police Officer Had Made an Important Arrest in Parral

Loya Chavez explained that the slain agent had made numerous arrests and interventions with regard to criminal groups.

The officer was attacked as he was leaving his home on his way to work.

One of the lines of investigation into the homicide of Warrant Officer Victor Hugo Sosa Martinez is that days before a banner with threats against him was hung on a bridge in the state capital, he had made a very important arrest in the municipality of Parral.

This was announced by Gilberto Loya Chávez, Secretary of State Public Security, after concluding the ceremony of honors with which the corporation bid farewell to the policeman who was killed last Monday morning, as he left his home in Villas del Rey.

In this sense, he expressed that the ministerial authority notified him that they already have several lines of investigation, regarding the murder of Sosa Martinez; but that one of the most strengthened was the matter of the banner that was hung with threats against him, on December 18, 2024.

Loya Chavez explained that the agent who had been killed had made numerous arrests and interventions in relation to criminal groups in various municipalities in the state, which put him at risk and vulnerable to possible revanchism.

He acknowledged and thanked the work of agencies such as the National Guard, the Defense and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), as well as the municipal public security department, for their support in the investigations and patrols to find the alleged perpetrators of what he considered an attack on the institutions, peace and integrity of the citizens of Chihuahua.

When questioned about the account that he was allegedly carrying drugs, the head of the SSPE said that this was part of the investigation being carried out by the state attorney general’s office.
