Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, ‘El Alfredillo’
On the evening of January 20th, the Highway 100 that connects Hermosillo with Bahía de Kino, in Sonora, was the scene of a violent confrontation that left a toll of 12 slain hitmen.
According to the version of the events shared by the General Prosecutor’s Office, the confrontation began when an armed group tried to rescue a young man who had been captured moments before.
This is about Carlos Humberto “N”, identified by authorities as the son of Jesús Humberto Limón López, also known as ‘El Chubeto’ or ‘El Cazador’, leader of Los Chapitos and head of the Los Cazadores cell until his arrest in 2021.
A group of gunmen aboard different trucks opened fire against the ministerial agents in an attempt to free the detainee, so the officers retaliated.

The reports from the Prosecutor’s Office indicate that seven members of the armed group managed to escape after the confrontation, while unofficial versions point out that one of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán’s sons was present at the scene.
According to this narrative, awaiting confirmation from authorities, Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar, also known as ‘El Alfredillo’, was part of the convoy that took part in the exchange of gunfire.
Allegedly, this individual – for whom the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is offering up to 10 million dollars – was traveling on one of the trucks that fled with the support of another vehicle that obstructed the path of the police units.
Those who shared such an assumption point out that the truck in which ‘El Chapo’s’ son supposedly traveled did not seek to confront the ministerial officers during the rescue attempt but instead focused on evading the operation.

However, the Prosecutor’s Office has not made any public statement confirming or denying the suggestion that ‘El Alfredillo’ has managed to escape from the security forces.
Before the balance of this event was revealed, the Prosecution denied that Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar was involved in response to rumors that ‘El Chapito’ was there.
The intensity of the confrontation that the hitmen started in an attempt to free ‘El Chubeto’s son could be an indicator of the level of importance that Carlos Humberto “N” had within the criminal structure, even though the Prosecutor’s Office only described him as a “member of a criminal cell”.
Due to these events, the Sonora Attorney General’s Office and security personnel from the three levels of government maintain an intense operation in the western rural area of Hermosillo to locate and capture the seven attackers who escaped.
Los Cazadores is a criminal organization that operated as a branch of Los Chapitos in Sonora, but in November 2023, it was revealed that they had begun to operate independently.
