In this post, we dive into the latest developments in the legal case of Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo”, former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel. On April 16, 2024, Judge Brian M. Cogan of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York denied the request of “El Chapo” to receive visits from his wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, and their twin daughters in prison. This decision was made due to the confinement conditions imposed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) and the Eastern District Court’s lack of power to modify them. This ruling was a blow to “El Chapo”, who had requested visits from his family to the maximum security prison he is currently held in. Our post covers the background of the case, including Aispuro’s previous release from prison and her recent transfer to a new facility. We also discuss the legal proceedings and potential sentence that Aispuro may face, as well as her role in “El Chapo’s” business dealings. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story. “Murder trial against “Cabo 20″ for the death of photojournalist postponed once again – Exclusive Report by Mica for cartelinsider.com”

In an ongoing case led by the Attorney General’s Office of Baja California, the intermediate hearing for the murder trial against David López Jiménez, also known as “Cabo 20”, has been postponed yet again. The new date for the hearing has been rescheduled for June 18th, causing frustration for those seeking justice for the death of photojournalist Margarito Martínez.

López Jiménez was arrested in August of 2022 for allegedly being the intellectual responsible for Martínez’s murder by criminal subordinates. The interim Attorney General, Ricardo Carpio, declared that they will continue to investigate López Jiménez for this and other acts of violence in the state.

But despite being kept under provisional detention for almost a year, López Jiménez has not been charged with organized crime. Instead, the Prosecutor’s Office of Baja California has requested an arrest warrant for the murder of one of his accomplices, Carlos Adrián Estrada Hernández, nicknamed “El Pupet”.

After several postponements and delays, the hearing was once again postponed this Monday, April 15th, as the victim’s wife and private legal advisor were not present. This is not the first time the hearing has been delayed, as López Jiménez’s first lawyer was killed in February of 2023.

Additionally, at the request of the prosecution and with the support of the defense, the judge granted a separate hearing for López Jiménez and one of his alleged accomplices, José Luis Alvizar Anguiano, also known as “El Tamal”. This was to allow for a fair and thorough presentation of evidence, as they are accused of different offenses in the same crime.

Despite being identified as a main perpetrator of violence and a high-priority target since 2018, López Jiménez has been previously released after being captured twice in Mexicali and Querétaro. As for “El Tamal”, he was captured in 2022 for a murder committed in Baja California Sur.

It is important to note that both suspects are considered innocent until declared otherwise by the judicial authority. For more updates on this case and others, stay tuned to cartelinsider.com. Thank you for reading.
