The first contingent of 2,000 elements from the National Guard and Mexican Army have arrived at the 28th Infantry Battalion, with the purpose of strengthening the presence on the streets and establishing military security checkpoints. These elements will primarily be deployed in Tijuana, along with neighboring municipalities Playas de Rosarito and Tecate. The current membership is 2,500 and with the arrival of 2,000 new members, it is expected to remain permanently to support public safety.
