Through a video shared by journalist Antonio Nieto, a group of apparent hitmen threatened the life of Edgar Gerardo Aguilar Quintana, identified as the regional chief of the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR) in Mexico City.
What motivated this message was an apparent betrayal to the agreements that Aguilar supposedly had with the unidentified criminal group.
The messenger of this group said that the video was directed to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) in an attempt to denounce their grievances with the official of the FGR through an alternate means.
“In April of 2023, [Aguilar] broke into one of our properties along with his team. On this occasion, they presented a search warrant which they used to enter and confiscate 620 kilograms of cocaine,” said the hooded individual without specifying the location of the property.
“Not satisfied with just taking the drugs, they also beat the workers, leaving them gravely injured. We were able to recover [the drugs] through a direct negotiation with Edgar Gerardo Aguilar Quintana, to whom we gave a large sum of money in exchange for its return,” the man added.
Supposedly, the criminal group found out later on that the order presented during that operation by the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC) was false, and accused the agent of stealing from them. However, they let it slide “since we were still doing business buying drugs from him at a good price that he confiscated”.
According to the statements of the anonymous person, Aguilar would have orchestrated a new simulated operation to take 800 kilos of drugs. “It was of no use to give you 500,000 dollars every month in your own hand so that you would let us work,” the individual reproached. Supposedly, the money deliveries took place in the garden located next to the building of the FGR in the Doctores neighborhood.
“During this occasion, you blatantly stated that the drugs could not be recovered since they are orders from higher up. However, the same drugs that you stole from us were sold to other people without even bothering to change the logos or seals,” can be heard in the video.
Apparently, after this latest seizure, Aguilar Quintana would have boasted about the protection he enjoys as a member of the FGR, so the possible criminals opted to threaten him.
“We have decided to kill you and we want to see that person you used to brag about come and bring you back to life […] Your death is inevitable and non-negotiable, therefore this group you see is designated to fulfill our objective, and if you try to outsmart us, we will act without mercy, killing your family,” warned the messenger.
