In the latest news from the Mexican drug cartels, the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA) reported that the Mexican Army seized weapons and vehicles belonging to the Toros del Cártel del Golfo Group on the borders of Tamaulipas and Nuevo León. This operation, carried out as part of the federal government’s zero impunity policy, resulted in the confiscation of 25 firearms, 319 magazines, 4,046 cartridges, and 17 vehicles.
This seizure, which took place during a motorized reconnaissance near the “Fenicias” wind farm, is just one of the many efforts being made to strengthen the rule of law and combat criminal organizations in Mexico. The Tamaulipas State Force, in collaboration with the Nuevo Leon Civil Force and SEDENA, has been working tirelessly to detect and dismantle these criminal groups.
In one particular operation, the Tamaulipas State Force seized a monster truck and a Yukon truck in the vicinity of a community in General Bravo, Nuevo León. These vehicles bear the legend “Special Reaction Forces Group Bulls”, allegedly belonging to an armed branch of the Gulf Cartel. This faction, known as Los Metros, is currently fighting for control of the border territory against their enemies from the Northeast Cartel (CDN).
The situation in Mexico has become so concerning that the government of the United States has issued a travel alert for its citizens, specifically warning about kidnappings on passenger transportation routes leaving from Reynosa, Tamaulipas. According to reports, these kidnappings target passengers with connections to the United States, including American citizens and residents.
In light of these events, the Department of State has issued a Level 4 Travel Advisory for Tamaulipas, warning against all travel to the region. The government of the USA has also urged its citizens to avoid traveling within or through the state governed by Américo Villareal Anaya of the Morena party.
