President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that the weapons used by the criminals in the confrontation in Técpan de Galeana, Guerrero, were high-caliber and came from the United States.
“And what also happens with the weapons that pass from the United States to Mexico? Now what we saw in the case of Tecpan in Guerrero were high-caliber weapons that come from there,” said Sheinbaum in a morning conference.
Last week, a confrontation between the military and a criminal cell in Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero, left 19 people dead.
Omar García Harfuch, head of the agency, detailed the confrontation recorded yesterday in the Costa Grande area said that 17 aggressors died in various events, as well as two municipal police officers.
The shootings in Tecpan lasted more than seven hours due to the fight between the criminal group “Los Granados” against another group called “Guerrero Nueva Generación”, which is presumed to be an alliance between “La Familia Michoacana” and the Jalisco New Generation Cartell (CJNG) in the region.
This morning, at the National Palace, Sheinbaum said that, if Donald Trump were to win the presidential elections in the United States, her government would work with him with high-level dialogue and coordination, but without subordination.
“There will be coordination, it is coordination without subordination, dialogue and joint work to be able to address all the issues that concern both of us. The issue of fentanyl in the United States is a public health issue and for humanitarian reasons we must support.
“What President López Obrador raised is also important at the time and I think that it must also be raised: What happens on the other side of the border? “That is, because there is organized crime here, there is a strategy, but what happens on the other side of the border, how is fentanyl sold in the United States, what happens when there are drugs that cross over to the other side, are there no cartels there? What happens with the financial resources from the sale of different drugs and fentanyl in particular? So, it is here, but the problem is also there,” he added.
