In a significant operation, the Secretary of Security (SS) of the State of Mexico apprehended Santiago Ramón “N,” identified as a key perpetrator of cartel violence and alleged extortionist. Authorities report that he was actively involved in the collection of protection money from local merchants and implicated in the kidnappings of individuals who resisted payment demands. The suspect is believed to be associated with the notorious criminal group “La Familia Michoacana.”

The authorities underscored his involvement in the recent abduction of four individuals engaged in poultry sales, an incident that garnered attention on social media. His arrest, executed on Sunday, December 24, came as a result of collaborative efforts by the Ministry of Safety and Citizen Protection (SSPC), anti-kidnapping agents, members of the National Intelligence Center (CNI), and the Army, following an extensive intelligence operation.

Security footage from a poultry warehouse in Toluca captured the alarming moment when alleged members of La Familia Michoacana forcibly abducted four workers. The victims, now identified by law enforcement, were seen being coerced into a vehicle, leading to an official complaint filed with the Attorney General of the State of Mexico (FGJEM). The victims include Rigoberto Colin Consuelo, Jaime Ramón Reyes, Isidro Díaz Casimiro, and Eliseo Escobar Ramírez.

This arrest occurs amidst heightened security concerns in the region, including the aftermath of violent clashes in Texcaltitlán that resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. Governor Delfina Gómez of Edomex acknowledged the disappearance of several residents following these events, emphasizing that while they were not abducted by the group, they remain unaccounted for, highlighting the ongoing threat posed by criminal organizations.
Simultaneously, in Morelos, messages allegedly from La Familia Michoacana were discovered, denouncing extortion activities and attributing them to the Tepito Union, another dominant criminal entity in Mexico City. Despite their claims of non-involvement, various instances of extortion associated with La Familia Michoacana have been documented across the country.

The current leadership of La Familia Michoacana is reportedly under the brothers José Alfredo and Johnny, known by their aliases “the fish” and “strawberry.” As law enforcement continues to target these networks, the arrest of Santiago Ramón “N” marks a critical victory in the ongoing battle against organized crime, extortion, and violence. It underscores the commitment of Mexican security forces to dismantle these groups and restore safety to affected communities. The public remains vigilant as investigations and efforts continue to combat these criminal activities.
