Criminal Groups Enter and Leave Guadalupe y Calvo to Avoid Arrest

The District Attorney’s Office maintains a presence in the area, which has led them to identify armed civilians who don’t settle in a single location.

In light of the recent acts of violence in the Guadalupe y Calvo region, the Southern District Attorney’s Office has been able to identify the modus operandi of the two criminal groups fighting over said territory. To this end, the armed men enter and leave the region to avoid being located or arrested.

For example, they have been able to establish that the armed individuals of the Sinaloa Cartel, who operate for “Los Salgueiro,” arrive from Durango and Sinaloa, while members of the “La Línea” criminal group have bases of operation in Camargo, Parral, and even Jiménez, where they travel and take refuge after being in that region.

One of the most recent acts of violence in the municipality was the discovery of a dead person at kilometer 87 of the Parral-Guadalupe y Calvo highway. He was identified as Yair Alejandro S.M., 27 years old, originally from Guadalupe y Calvo. who presented gunshot wounds in different parts of the body. 

According to the ministerial investigation, on Thursday afternoon, Yair Alejandro S.M. was injured by unknown assailants while at his home. He was admitted to a hospital in Guadalupe y Calvo. However, the following day, while being transported by ambulance to a hospital in the city of Parral, armed individuals stopped the emergency vehicle, took him to an unknown location, and was found dead moments later.

In light of the ongoing violence in Guadalupe y Calvo for the past two weeks, the prosecutor for the southern region, Juan Carlos Portillo Coronado, stated that the State Investigation Agency (AEI) is maintaining operational deployment in the populated areas. 

As part of these actions, investigative personnel conduct outreach activities to prevent the commission of crimes, searching for weapons, drugs, stolen vehicles, and individuals with court orders. Meanwhile, the Interinstitutional Operation Bases (BOI), comprised of authorities from all three levels of government, replicate these strategies in various communities in the aforementioned municipality.
