Armando “N”, known by the alias ‘Torrijos’, was arrested by municipal police officers in Acambay and agents of the State of Mexico Secretariat of Security for his apparent involvement in the crime of qualified homicide.
According to the investigations of the General Prosecutor’s Office (FGJ) of the State of Mexico, ‘Torrijos’ was involved in an armed clash on January 24 that took place in that precise municipality.
Although initially it was thought that the confrontation had been between the criminal factions of Los Torrijos and La Familia Michoacana, subsequent investigations revealed that ‘Torrijos’ and a group of alleged hitmen under his command were confronted by residents of Acambay.
Allegedly, on that day Armando “N” was accompanied by a group of gunmen and intended to collect extortion payments from meat businesses in the municipality of Acambay.
In order to demand payment from local merchants, ‘Torrijos’ and his men opened fire at the properties, causing the tenants to decide to respond to the attack.

“The inhabitants of this municipality repelled the attack from within and requested support from more residents,” the Mexican prosecutor’s office reported.
During the armed clash, ‘Torrijo’ was injured and at least one other man, of unknown identity, lost his life. Once medical personnel discharged Armando “N” from the hospital he had been admitted to, local authorities carried out the arrest warrant against him.
Previously, the Secretary of State Security of Mexico State pointed out that the aggressions could have been the result of the struggle between the Michoacan Family and the Torrijos in the northern part of the state for control of activities such as illegal oil theft, drug trafficking, and human trafficking to the United States.
When the police arrived at the scene, on the Agostadero-Conejo highway, they found three trucks with gunshots and the lifeless body of a man.
Later, the discovery of another body outside the hospital in Acambay was reported and it was revealed that those involved in the confrontation would have taken a wounded person. So far, there is no official statement to deny or confirm whether this person would be ‘Torrijos’.
