In the first 31 days of President Claudia Shom’s government, federal forces have arrested 22 priority targets, including arms dealers, instigators of violence, drug trafficking operators with international ties, and a Chinese citizen who is being investigated by the United States for laundering more than $150 million in drug money.
During this period, more than 30 aggressors have been killed after attacking members of federal forces that have deployed personnel to restore order in some cities where drug cartels are fighting for territorial control.
The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, reported that during the first 28 days, 824 people had been arrested for high-impact crimes and that 834 firearms had been seized.
