They are known as the narco turncoats, defectors, traitors, and other terms used in the context of drug trafficking to refer to people who switch sides or betray their criminal organization to join a rival group.
He’s known as Cabo 27, a nickname that was used by Jesús Rafael Yocupicio, also known as El Cabezón, arrested last June in Culiacán along with 17 other people. Others indicate that the alias is also used by Pedro Herrera, aka El Pin.
But the reality is that the authorities still don’t know the face and name of one of the main instigators of violence in Baja California and in the country, revealed the weekly newspaper Zeta Tijuana.
Cabo 27 or El 27 abandoned La Mayiza to join the ranks of Los Chapitos and ally himself with Mencho’s cartel and the Arellano Félix Cartel (CAF). The weekly newspaper Zeta revealed that this individual has changed sides five times.
From the CAF he went to the Sinaloa Cartel, then to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel, later to the faction led by Mayito Flaco, and now he’s returned to Los Chapitos.
Since 2021, Zeta Tijuana reported that this armed group called Los Cabos, recruited and integrated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel in Baja California in 2015, betrayed Mencho and switched sides to Mayo Zambada.
Among the renegades were El Cabo 50, El Cabo 27, and El Cabo 100, who dedicated themselves to murdering their former comrades, strengthening the Sinaloa Cartel and weakening the Jalisco New Generation Cartel.
Cabo 27 or El 27 is a key figure in the escalation of violence in Tijuana and was considered an operator for Los Mayos. This individual, identified as the mastermind behind several attacks, represented the interests of the drug traffickers Alfonso and René Arzate García, known as El Aquiles and La Rana, leaders of the faction now headed by Ismael Zambada Sicairos, also known as El Mayito Flaco, in Baja California.
Cabo 27’s time in different criminal groups has allowed him to gain in-depth knowledge of the structures and key members of various criminal organizations. This makes him a formidable businessman for his former allies.
Zeta Tijuana reports that Cabo 27 has been identified by authorities as the leader of at least one cell comprised of child and teenage hitmen who have been trafficking drugs and committing various crimes and homicides since October 2023.
The former operator for Los Mayos was engaged in a territorial dispute against members of the Arellano Felix Cartel, who went from being his enemies to becoming his allies.

Damn wonder if he’s gonna get whacked by switching so many times. You would think no one would take him back. Kinda like a female when she gets caught cheating 5x
The Chapitos are desperate. I would think they’d take anyone back right about now.
creo que este señor va a tener un final poco agradable
This guy is playing Russian roulette.
I’m surprised this dude is still alive. I’ve always heard that chapulines/grasshoppers are usually quickly killed by the cartel they betrayed.
