The border security cooperation program prioritizes combating arms trafficking.
Puerta de Alambre is a community dedicated to lemon cultivation. The CJNG and the Knights Templar are planting explosives to control the territory and terrorize farmers.
The Mexico-United States security implementation group agreed at its last meeting last week to prevent and respond to drone attacks at the border, and to deepen collaboration to curb arms trafficking into Mexico and fentanyl trafficking into the United States.
In separate statements outlining their priorities, the countries announced that the meeting also included an agreement to continue cooperation on extraditions and strengthen investigations related to fuel theft.
“Both nations committed to improving intelligence sharing and connecting analytical platforms to prevent and respond to drone attacks at the border. The United States and Mexico agreed to deepen and expedite collaboration on extraditions, asset seizures, and fuel theft investigations, and committed to meeting again in January 2026,” the U.S. State Department statement said.
Meanwhile, the Mexican Foreign Ministry emphasized the agreement to deepen and expedite the exchange of information on arms trafficking and to continue with actions to seize weapons and ammunition.
It also insisted that this joint work must be carried out with full respect for the sovereignty of both countries.
“It is based on the principles of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, mutual trust, cooperation without subordination, and shared responsibility. It was emphasized that the exchange of information, operational coordination, and permanent dialogue must translate into better security conditions for the populations of both countries,” the Mexican Foreign Ministry statement affirmed.
Meanwhile, U.S. authorities emphasized the agreements against fentanyl and joint efforts to dismantle “foreign terrorist organizations” and their sources of income. “Ending the illicit trafficking of fentanyl, which causes the death of thousands of Americans every year, is a primary objective of this effort. The SIG is implementing decisive measures against financial institutions and individuals complicit in the manufacture, distribution, and sale of fentanyl and its chemical precursors.”
The meeting was led by Roberto Velasco, from the Mexican Foreign Ministry, and by the United States Ambassador to Mexico, Ronald Johnson.
