Los Cazadores Jefe Killed
This Thursday, a man identified as Edwin C., known as “El Moreno”, was killed. He was the plaza boss of the group “Los Cazadores”, one of the Sinaloa Cartel’s armed branches in the Magdalena region.
Through a statement, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Sonora (FGE) announced that members of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AMIC) and the National Defense Secretariat (Sedena) were attacked by a criminal group during investigative actions where an arrest warrant was attempted to be executed.
The confrontation took place on the streets of the Rosales neighborhood when the authorities were carrying out an operation to detain a man accused of being the primary generator of violence in the Magdalena area.

Sedena contacted an SUV-type vehicle, whose occupants initiated the aggression against the agents, so they were forced to respond.
Los Cazadores
In the end, two people were killed, including “El Moreno”, the individual who had been identified as one of the top criminal targets. It should be noted that Edwin C. was being investigated for the crime of attempted homicide after attacking the coordinated operation at least twice during 2023.
“Los Cazadores”, is associated with the armed branch of Gente Nueva, supporters of “Los Chapitos”, the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel. This group is dedicated to the theft of patrol cars, kidnapping, and attacking the safe houses belonging to rival groups.
Murders of police officers, bodies hung from bridges, kidnappings, confrontations, disappearances, and multiple homicides. All have been reported in Sonora due to the territorial fight between the faction of the Sinaloa Cartel that deploys Los Cazadores.
This group leads the battle against La Barredora 24/7, a group linked to the Caborca Cartel led by Rafael Caro Quintero and his nephews. The war between these two groups became evident starting in September 2020.
