Your head has to be on a swivel if you’re thinking of going into the drug world. More so if your intention is staying alive while operating there. An acute awareness of your surroundings is also required in order to ensure that you don’t fall into your rival’s hands.
Somehow these life saving-measures went out the window for an alleged assassin who finds himself buried underground up to his neck. At some point everything went horribly wrong for him, and he wound up being caught.
The Operativa Toros, an armed wing for the Cartel del Golfo, capitalized on his capture by using him for training purposes. It’s obviously not all too often that they get a live enemy to teach new recruits. They made sure to take full advantage of what they had, though. This is clearly heard in the voices of several teachers who explain to a trainee how best to remove an unconscious man’s head.

As somebody who has read any bit of information concerning the recruitment process and narco training camps, I can confidently say that they [new recruits/forced recruits] 100% have access to live victims to practice murdering, torturing, and decapitating.
Usually at a well-run camp there will be a building where at least a couple of victims are kept alive for this very purpose. Perhaps in this situation it was an ‘inpromptu’ training, literally ‘in situ’.
Also learning to dismember a body is taught very early on, and if there are no live victims, or enemies available to use for the purpose, a new ‘recruit/soldier’ who is in training and *unable or unwilling to follow orders, or somebody who obviously does not have the stomach for the line of work, then they will be used.
Frequently the students will be asked to practice on the victim in every imaginable way.
Example, in one documented situation, three opposing cartel members were literally strung up from the trees and suspended from a rope that would allow for vertical swinging and the students would have to club them to death or aim to get a clean shot.
The person who then balks at the threat of removing body parts or customarily eating human flesh, which is a common initiation rite [to further desensitize] will then become the new victim if needed. If the student vomits after eating human flesh they will then have to eat the vomit that they themselves spewed or risk becoming the new target practice.
Desensitization tactics such as this are common fodder within the first week.
