In Nuevo León, the investigation into the alleged fuel theft at the storage and dispatch terminal in the municipality of Santa Catarina continues to advance. Meanwhile, the premises—used to fill tanker trucks with illegally extracted hydrocarbons—remain under the custody of authorities.
Acting on instructions from the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, municipal police officers are maintaining a permanent watch at the entrance to the property, which is located on Antiguo Camino a Villa de García, adjacent to the facilities of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex).
Behind its façade, the site appears to be a truck parking facility known as “Truck Parking Santa Catarina.” However, it allegedly served as the operational hub for a clandestine fuel-theft ring.
A tunnel—measuring over 60 meters in length and connected to 18-inch-diameter pipelines—was discovered at the location; it was through this tunnel that fuel was illegally siphoned off.
The facility offered amenities for freight operators—such as laundry services, heated showers, and a vending area—marketing itself as a safe and comfortable space for truckers. Nevertheless, federal authorities suspect that the property was actually being utilized as a logistics hub for the storage of stolen fuel.
The Attorney General’s Office continues to pursue its investigation in an effort to identify those responsible for this illicit siphoning operation, including potential Pemex employees who may have colluded with members of organized crime groups to carry out this clandestine scheme.
