Following a four-month investigation, authorities conducted 12 simultaneous raids in Querétaro, where 30 people were arrested, including Diego “N,” alias “El Flaco,” an operator for “Los Salazar,” a group affiliated with the Sinaloa Cartel, dedicated to drug trafficking, extortion, and recruitment. Omar García Harfuch, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, reported that the investigation began with information from the Naval Intelligence Unit of the Secretariat of the Navy that included “analysis of criminal patterns and fixed and mobile surveillance.”
The operation against these members of the criminal cell involved personnel from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of National Defense, the Secretariat of the Navy, the Attorney General’s Office, the Querétaro Secretariat of Citizen Security, and the state Attorney General’s Office.
“Diego ‘N’ coordinated the sale and distribution of drugs in the state capital, as well as arms trafficking, attacks on rival groups, homicides, and recruitment activities,” he detailed. During the raids, authorities seized firearms, ammunition, doses of drugs, cash, vehicles, cell phones, and data storage devices.
“In an inter-institutional operation, 12 search warrants were executed at different addresses in the capital, where 21 men and nine women were arrested, including the leader of the criminal cell,” the federal Security Cabinet indicated.
“Los Salazar” is a structure that collaborates with and operates under the influence of the Sinaloa Cartel, participating in drug distribution activities and violence against rival groups.
