A direct, targeted shooting inside a busy commercial area left a woman dead and her young son wounded in Zapotlanejo, Jalisco.
The attack took place at the Centro de Modas inside Plaza Giselle, where gunmen opened fire at close range, killing a 38-year-old woman on the spot after multiple gunshot wounds. The minor, identified as her son, was injured and rushed to a hospital. His current condition has not been officially disclosed.
Authorities sealed off the area and the Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation to determine motive and identify those responsible.

The victim was identified as Esmeralda Janeth Fabián Díaz, alias “La Lic.” According to preliminary intelligence, she was supposedly considered a key generator of violence in Tijuana, Baja California, with activity concentrated in El Área de las Casas, Los Valles, Homex, and surrounding neighborhoods.
Sources indicate she was allegedly involved in high-impact crimes, including extortion, protection rackets, and forced disappearances, operating under the structure of Rafael de Jesús Sainz Villamontes, alias “El Cabo 27.”

No arrests have been reported so far. The investigation remains ongoing. Nothing is official except for her death.
