And regarding the extortion in Michoacán, the State Prosecutor’s Office revealed that a handful of criminals have obtained profits totaling around 15 billion pesos by extorting, above all, producers of avocados, limes, and berries.
Among the main extortion ringleaders in that state are Alfonso Fernández Magallón, alias “La Quiringua or “Poncho,” Alejandro Sepúlveda Arellano, alias “El Bótox,” and Jorge Armando, known as “El Licenciado.”
Regarding the latter, the prosecutor’s office indicated that the cell he led is the one blamed for the murder of the mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, and that it generated profits of up to 7.2 billion pesos annually through extortion rackets.
“El Licenciado” or “El Conta,” who was arrested on November 18, 2025. This individual is also linked to the issue of extortion in the Uruapan area, being responsible for approximately 7.2 billion pesos annually from these extortion activities, as he focused on extorting the avocado sector and business owners in Uruapan, as well as in Cuitzeo and the lakeside area of Lake Cuitzeo; Huandacareo was also part of his operational territory.
