ESCUINAPA, SINALOA — October 9, 2026
Three narco-banners signed by La Chapiza appeared across southern Sinaloa, accusing members of the rival La Mayiza faction of ambushing and killing three Mexican soldiers in La Concepción, Concordia.
One banner was found outside a church in Escuinapa, while two others appeared on commercial buildings. All three carried the same message and photographs of five individuals.
The banners identify Abel Labrador Sarabia, alias “El Pelirrojo,” as the man who planned the ambush and gunned down the soldiers. Jorge Armando Berumen Lizárraga, alias “El Placoso,” is accused of betraying the troops and participating in the attack.
Both are identified as members of La Mayiza, with the message naming René “00” of Ajoya, San Ignacio, the Cabreras of Durango, and El Mayito Flaco as leaders.
The banners also accuse members of the Mexican military of working alongside La Mayiza.
According to the message, the accused men had been traveling with soldiers in official desert-colored military vehicles, abducting civilians and raiding homes without warrants throughout southern Sinaloa, before allegedly turning on the troops.
“We know there are soldiers who do not agree, and they pay the consequences for the greed of their fellow soldiers,” the message reads.
Addressed to President Claudia Sheinbaum, Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, and Security Secretary Omar García Harfuch, the banners feature five photographs labeled “Peli,” “Placoso,” “00,” “Mayito,” and “Cabrera.”
All three are signed La Chapiza, accompanied by the faction’s pizza symbol.

Betrayed and ambushed soldiers in La Concepción.
These individuals are members of the criminal cell known as “LA MAYIZA,” commanded by René “00” from Ajoya, San Ignacio, the Cabreras from Durango, and EL MAYITO FLACO, a killer of women and a terrorist.
In recent days, these individuals were riding around in official desert-colored military vehicles alongside soldiers, abducting people and breaking into homes without warrants in municipalities throughout southern Sinaloa.
And these same individuals betrayed the soldiers.
We know there are soldiers who do not agree with what is happening, and they are the ones paying the consequences for the greed of their fellow soldiers.
The soldiers assigned to those units know exactly who they are.
