A message signed “I.A.G.” is warning people in Culiacán not to buy tickets or attend the Palenque. I received the message from a contact close to Los Chapitos’ leadership.
The Palenque is the city’s annual concert series at the livestock-fair grounds, with different singers and bands performing on different nights. It was last held in 2023. This year’s concerts are scheduled for November 12–29, with tickets going on sale November 2.
The message claims La Mayiza is organizing the event and could cancel it after collecting ticket money, keeping the cash to finance the war. If the concerts go ahead, it alleges the faction could attack the crowd and blame Los Chapitos.
It also accuses the government of supporting La Mayiza and singles out Arley Pérez and Panter Bélico, both scheduled to perform November 29. The accusations in the message have not been independently verified.
“For everyone’s sake, don’t go buying tickets, much less attend,” the message reads in translation.
Attackers shot at and burned the ticket offices on November 7, 2024. Threatening banners appeared days later. The 2024 and 2025 concert programs were canceled amid insecurity, although the wider livestock fair returned in 2025 without the Palenque.
New organizer Fiesta MX Entertainment says it is separate from the company behind the 2024 event. Organizers have announced four security checkpoints for concertgoers.
