Four men were arrested by agents of the State Investigation Agency (AEI) participating in the Inter-institutional Operations Bases (BOII Units), after high-powered weapons were found during a routine inspection in the town of Cieneguita de Rodríguez, in the municipality of Moris.
The detainees were identified as Jesús Alberto S. V., 25 years old, originally from Empalme, Sonora; Ramiro Ezequiel M. C., 26 years old, originally from Álamos, Sonora; Joaquín H. C., 35 years old, originally from Milpillas, Chihuahua; and Francisco Orlando G. R., 29 years old, originally from Navojoa, Sonora.
According to information provided in a press release from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the four detainees stated that they belonged to the criminal group known as “Gente Salazar.”
The arrest was made as part of a joint operation carried out on Friday, January 24, and Saturday, January 25, in coordination with elements of the National Defense Secretariat, the National Guard, and the State Public Security Secretariat.
During the operation, the following weapons were seized: four AK-47 rifles, 7.62×39 mm caliber; seven metal magazines for AK-47 rifles; 240 rounds of 7.62×39 mm ammunition; and a black tactical vest.
The detainees and the seized weapons were placed at the disposal of the corresponding authorities, who will be responsible for continuing the investigations and determining responsibility.
