The capture of Christian Iván “N,” alias “El Cholo 40,” an active member of the Sinaloa Cartel’s “La Chapiza” faction in Baja California Sur, has been confirmed. His arrest took place in Ciudad Constitución, in the municipality of Comondú, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
According to the State Security Table, this individual was considered a high-priority target and the main instigator of violence in the municipalities of Comondú and Loreto, largely responsible for the more than 131 victims of intentional homicide recorded during 2025.
The operation was carried out by members of the law enforcement agencies that comprise the Security Table.
“The Security Table, through a joint operation with the Mixed Operations Base (BOM) in Ciudad Constitución, managed to arrest this person nicknamed ‘El Cholo 40,’ who had an arrest warrant for attempted homicide. He has already been brought before the control judge, as he was a priority target that was identified and pursued by the Security Table,” said Antonio López Rodríguez, Attorney General of the State.
His arrest took place on Niños Héroes Avenue, between Basilio Polanco and Lorenza Tapia streets in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood.
An arrest warrant was executed against him for the crime of attempted homicide. Antonio López Rodríguez said that the detainee is identified as the leader of a criminal cell linked to high-impact crimes, and his name was confirmed after an incident that occurred in August 2025 in the central part of the state.
“The prosecutor’s office has an analysis of criminal structures; they identified those responsible for generating violence. Since then, a work plan was developed, and a power struggle between organized crime groups was uncovered. On August 19 (2025), a shootout involving one of the cells occurred, which helped gather sufficient data to request a judicial warrant from the judge against the leader of that group, who was operating at the time,” concluded Antonio López of the Prosecutor’s Office.
