The apprehension of the man—identified as a priority target—triggered road blockades throughout the day on Monday.
Authorities confirmed that Alexander “R9” Benavides Flores is the priority target who was detained in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, on Monday, April 27.
The man is known by the alias “R9,” according to his entry in the National Registry of Detentions (RND), maintained by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC).
“R9” Was Detained Following a Search Warrant
As part of coordinated security and law enforcement operations, federal and state authorities successfully detained the man *in flagrante delicto* (in the act) within the municipality of Reynosa.
Alexander “R9” Benavides Flores is considered a priority target and an alleged member of a criminal group active in the region, the Tamaulipas Security Spokesperson’s Office noted via social media.
The security operations and the subsequent arrest were carried out pursuant to the execution of a search warrant at a property located in the Vicente Guerrero neighborhood of Reynosa.
As a result of this operation, authorities successfully secured the property, along with a 7.62x39mm caliber long gun, ammunition of various calibers, magazines, tactical gear, four vehicles, a cell phone, and various documents.
The spokesperson highlighted that, in previous weeks, threats directed at the emergency response system had been detected in Reynosa; authorship of these threats is attributed to “R9.”
