The investigation into the murders of Colombian artists Byron Sanchez, B King, and Jorge Luis Regio Clown revealed the introduction of a new drug called Coco Chanel into the capital from Colombia, allegedly distributed by the Tepito Union, whose members had approved its arrival.
This was established in the investigation file, in which the State of Mexico agents in charge of the investigations even indicated that the narcotic is highly addictive.
Extortionists at the forefront
The information obtained by this newspaper indicates that the introduction of this new drug was also spearheaded by the leader who controls the extortion scheme known as “gota a gota” in the capital and State of Mexico, identified by authorities as Diego Armando.
This is believed to be the main line of investigation behind the murder of the Colombians, whose remains were found on September 17, two days after their disappearance was reported.
Authorities identified that the meeting to which the artists were taken would address the issue of the distribution of this new narcotic.
However, the production of synthetic or designer drugs has also been reported by Mexico City and federal authorities in Mexico City through various groups and arrests of targets, where cocaine hydrochloride and derivatives, or salts, have been found. These components are included in Article 479 of the General Health Law.
For example, in a search conducted in the Centro neighborhood in February of this year, intelligence agents from the Mexico City police seized cocaine hydrochloride used to make the drug for retail sale.
Through a transparency request, the Attorney General’s Office reported that chemical precursors for drug production have been found in the capital since 2018; although the quantities are small, they reflect its use in the manufacture of methamphetamine, crystal meth, and even fentanyl.
From 2019 to 2023 alone, the main drugs seized by local authorities on the streets of the capital were marijuana, cocaine, and methamphetamine. During that period, the Attorney General’s Office reported the seizure of just over 7,000 kilograms of marijuana, 65 kilograms of cocaine, and 27 kilograms of methamphetamine.
