Personnel from the Secretariat of the Navy, working with the Mexican Navy’s Eighth Naval Region, intercepted a vehicle in Mazatlán and seized 146 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine. The drugs were concealed in 286 packages of various colors. Two individuals were also detained in connection with the seizure.

The Secretariat of the Navy announced that on May 27 of this year, naval personnel seized a vehicle transporting 286 white packages containing a substance with the characteristics of methamphetamine. They also arrested two alleged lawbreakers.

This incident occurred during ground patrols near the intersection of the Culiacán-Mazatlán highway and the Mazaguas road heading towards Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Naval personnel discovered a hidden compartment in the bed of a suspicious pick-up truck, where they found 286 packages wrapped in white plastic. These packages contained a presumed illegal substance, specifically methamphetamine known as “crystal,” and weighed approximately 146 kilograms.

The naval personnel quickly secured the suspected drugs and the vehicle involved and detained two individuals who were on board. They were then handed over to the Office of the Attorney General. These actions demonstrate the Secretariat of the Navy’s commitment, in collaboration with authorities from all three levels of government to preventing the trafficking of illicit substances in Mexico for the benefit of Mexican families.
