A man identified as Juan Enrique “N”, also known as El Pingua, was arrested in Matamoros, Tamaulipas. He is allegedly the leader of Los Ciclones, a faction of the Gulf Cartel.
The events were reported on Monday, March 4th, and images of the captured man can be seen on social media. It was the media outlet Foro TV that detailed the capture of Juan Enrique “N” along with five other people acting as his escorts. The recently captured man is believed to be involved in various crimes such as drug trafficking, kidnappings, money laundering, and trafficking of migrants, among others.
In the images shared by the mentioned media, it can be seen that the man was apprehended along with weapons and magazines, as well as blue pills and green grass.
It should be noted that leaked documents from the Secretariat of National Defense (Sedena) indicate that the man recently arrested would be the nephew of José Albero “N”, also known as La Kena, who was captured on January 18 in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo León.
In military records, he is identified as a person who was close to La Kena and a man who operated in Matamoros. Initial reports indicate that after his capture, El Pingua was taken by air to the Attorney General’s Office of Tamaulipas while being escorted by agents of the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), which is consistent with images of a man being loaded onto an aircraft.
Until at least 9:00 pm on Monday, the mentioned individual did not appear in the National Register of Detentions, so details of their arrest are not known.
In other actions related to the criminal group, on February 18th, Edgar “N”, alias El Bélico, was arrested in Nuevo León. Authorities identified him as someone in charge of logistics and coordination within the Gulf Cartel, specifically the Escorpión Group, another faction of the criminal group.
Together with the said subject, other people were detained, whose roles and names were not identified.
In a joint operation between the Seventh Military Zone and the Civil Force, the arrest of Edgar N., also known as El Bélico 55, was achieved. The federal authorities were searching for him for his role in coordinating and logistics within the C.D.G. Scorpio faction,” was the message from the Coordination Group for the Security of the entity.
