If there is a drug trafficker who stands out for his long career, it is Ismael Zambada García, who celebrated his 76th birthday on January 1st. Considered by many as the supreme leader of the Sinaloa Cartel, ‘El Mayo’ stands out among other leaders of criminal organizations for never having stepped foot in prison, unlike his most well-known partner who has been arrested three times.
Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, better known as “El Chapo”, was born in La Tuna, a small town in Badiraguato, Sinaloa, on April 4, 1957; 10 years after ‘El Mayo’.
He/she is currently 66 years old, about to turn 67.
The first time “El Chapo” was arrested was on June 9, 1993, when he was just 36 years old. In his first statement before the court, the former drug trafficker said, among other things, that he was married, Mexican, Catholic, and the father of four.

He was referring to Cesar, Ivan Archivaldo, Gisselle and Jesus Alfredo, the four children he fathered with Alejandrina Salazar Hernandez, his first wife. According to journalist Anabel Hernandez, at that time they were 14, 10, 11 and seven years old respectively.
However, by that time the drug lord was already a father to four others: Édgar, Joaquín, Ovidio and Griselda Guadalupe Guzmán López, the result of his relationship with Griselda Guadalupe López Pérez.
In this regard, the question arises: Which of the four main members of ‘Los Chapitos’, the most powerful faction of the Sinaloa Cartel currently, is the oldest?

According to records from the United States Department of Justice and Mexican authorities themselves, the oldest of the four ‘Chapitos’ is Iván Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar, who was born on August 15, 1983 ―currently 40 years old.
Some reports indicate that he was born in Durango, while others state that he first saw the light in Jalisco.
“‘El Chapito’, also known as, is considered the main leader of ‘Los Chapitos’, according to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).”

“Jesús Alfredo Guzmán Salazar is the fourth child of ‘El Chapo’ and Salazar Hernández, but he is the second oldest of the four siblings who are wanted by the government of the United States.”
She was born in Zapopan, Jalisco, on May 17, 1986, so she is currently 37 years old.
According to the United States Department of Justice, Jesús Alfredo shares the role of leader with his brother, and therefore the Department of State is offering a reward of 10 million dollars for information that leads to his arrest and/or conviction ―the same amount offered for Iván Archivaldo.

Next is Joaquín Guzmán López, ‘El Güero’, who was born on July 16th, 1986 in Sinaloa ―37 years old―.
The youngest of ‘Los Chapitos’ is Ovidio Guzmán López. ‘El Ratón’, as he is also known, was born in Culiacán, Sinaloa, on March 29, 1990, so he is currently 33 years old.
He is the only one of the four sons of ‘El Chapo’ who followed in his father’s footsteps, as he was extradited on September 15, 2023 to Chicago, Illinois.
