A group of assassins accused the politician of providing support to a rival organization.
Over the weekend, a video was disseminated on social networks in which alleged members of Grupo Operativo Barredora, a criminal cell related to La Mayiza in Veracruz, interrogated a young man before executing him.
The victim, who identified himself as Juan Carlos, said he was the head of a structure linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and mentioned some people who allegedly provided him with support.

One of the men mentioned in the video was Elvis Ventura Juárez, current candidate of the Movimiento Ciudadano (MC) political party for mayor of Nanchital, who later denied the accusations.
Who is this man? What is the trajectory of Elvis Ventura?
The public version of his résumé states that Elvis Ventura has more than two decades of experience in the construction industry, since 2000 he has been the operating manager of the company Constructora y Proveedora Oaxaca S.A. de C.

“Construction manager, heavy machinery supervisor, and head of administrative and operational staff” are the jobs listed by the current candidate for mayor of Nanchital.
The document provided by the Nanchital Municipal Council of Lázaro Cárdenas del Río indicates that Elvis Ventura completed his high school studies at the Universidad Veracruzana, an institution that issued his certificate in June 2021.
In May 2021, the Local Public Electoral Body of Veracruz validated Ventura Juárez’s nomination as the candidate for mayor of Nanchital for the Fuerza por México party. In December of that same year, the electoral authorities issued him his certificate, and he began his duties as a council member at City Hall in January 2022.
Due to his intentions to participate in the current process for renewing the municipal presidency, Elvis Ventura requested leave from his position starting December 10, 2024, and began the corresponding procedures. On March 15, 2025, he was officially named the Movimiento Ciudadano candidate for mayor.
What did Elvis Ventura say about the La Mayiza video?
Shortly after the video of the alleged members of La Mayiza was released on digital platforms, Elvis Ventura issued a statement in which he described the accusations and threats against him as part of “a dirty war that has crossed all boundaries.”
Without directly referring to the material in which the hitmen warned him to “stop going against the grain,” Ventura Juárez asserted that these actions only seek to “destabilize legitimate political projects and disrupt the peace of our people.”
“I don’t represent anyone who wants to harm our municipality. I represent the legitimate desire of citizens who yearn for justice, development, and dignity,” asserted the MC candidate, who called on authorities to guarantee the safety of the population.
