The state of Chiapas was, once again, the scene of a violent event framed within disputes between criminal groups. In this case, residents of the municipality of Villa Corzo witnessed the abandoned body attributed to the recently emerged Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel.
Around seven in the morning on January 27, those passing by the central park of San Pedro Buenavista noticed that a black pick-up truck, Toyota brand, was stopped without any occupants on board.
When they approached, people noticed that inside there was a bound body wrapped in a blanket and with apparent signs of torture.
Immediately, a person made an anonymous report to 911 to request the presence of law enforcement. As responders, agents from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) and a prosecutor arrived to lead the initial investigations.

The initial reports only allowed to confirm that the victim was a man, but no detail was revealed regarding his identity.
In the back of the vehicle, the possible perpetrators of the execution left a piece of cardboard with a threatening message directed to the Sinaloa (CDS) and Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) cartels.
“Chiapas belongs to the people of Chiapas. This is what will happen to all those who try to come and take away our peace, whether it be Jalisco or Sinaloa, we will deal with them here. Sincerely, the Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel” warned the text.
The Chiapas and Guatemala Cartel is the self-proclaimed name of an armed group of men who, without providing information about their identities, present themselves as local people fed up with the presence of the mentioned criminal groups and their apparent links with state security officials.

Through a video, alleged members of this new criminal organization warned of a wave of attacks against police forces as retaliation for the alleged protection that Francisco Javier Orantes Abadía, the Undersecretary of Security in Chiapas, provides to Jesús Esteban Machado Meza, also known as ‘El Güero Pulseras’, the operator of the Sinaloa Cartel in the state.
Additionally, on January 15th, the decapitated body of a man was found hanging on a bridge in Tuxtla Gutiérrez, along with a threatening message directed at ‘El Güero Pulseras’ and Julio César Moreno Pinzón, also known as ‘El Tarjetas’, identified as the regional leader of the “four letters” cartel.
