Four Alleged Informants Of The Sinaloa Cartel Were Arrested In The State Of Mexico.

Although La Familia Michoacana is the criminal organization that leads the collection of protection money and extortion in the State of Mexico, cells of the Sinaloa Cartel have also settled in the entity governed by the MORENA party member Delfina Gómez.

Recently, the Michoacana Family was placed at the center of media attention due to the massacre that occurred in Texcaltitlán and the kidnapping of four chicken smugglers in the Toluca Valley who were demanding up to four pesos for every kilogram of chicken they sold, an unsustainable situation for some merchants who had to close their businesses or stopped paying the cartel.

However, in the domains of La Familia Michoacana, the Security Secretariat of the State of Mexico (SSEM) detained four alleged lookouts from a cell of the Sinaloa Cartel.

According to the SSEM, the capture of the criminals, dedicated to activities of protection of the sale and distribution of drugs on the border between the State of Mexico and Mexico City, occurred thanks to an anonymous call that alerted the authorities about the operations of the criminal group in the municipality of Ocoyoacac.

In response to the anonymous call, a strong security operation was deployed in the area that ended with the capture of the alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel and the seizure of 100 packages and 750 grams of a substance with characteristics of crystal meth.

The detainees were also found with a gram scale and a narcomanta with a message directed to a criminal gang operating in the region.

“Pay a fee for selling,” reads the banner found at the place of the detention, directed to “The Fearsome Palacios,” a local group that is warned that they won’t be able to handle the strength of a cartel like that of Sinaloa.

Intelligence information from the federal government identifies cells of the Sinaloa Cartel with operations in the southern part of Mexico City, in the municipalities of Magdalena Contreras, Tlalpan, Xochimilco, Tláhuac and Milpa Alta.

Just east of Mexico City is the region that borders the State of Mexico on the way to Ocoyoacac, where four of their alleged lieutenants were captured.

One of the main groups of the Sinaloa Cartel in Mexico City would be “Los Machetes,” affiliated with the faction of the criminal organization led by Los Chapitos, the sons of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán.

According to information from the Mexico City Security Secretariat, their main criminal activity is related to the sale and distribution of drugs, as well as extortion and “cobro de piso” (floor tax), much like the cells of La Familia Michoacana.

It is important to remember that the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) identifies the Sinaloa Cartel as a criminal organization with a presence in 100 countries around the world and 19 states of Mexico, a force only equaled – at a local level – by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG).
