The gunshots alarmed people visiting a bustling commercial complex featuring restaurants, shops, and residential areas.
In a commercial district—right before the eyes of dozens of people and in broad daylight—a man was shot to death in the Valle del Campestre neighborhood of San Pedro Garza García.
The tranquility of a Monday afternoon in the area known as the “Arboleda zone” was shattered by the sound of gunshots. These shots alerted those visiting a busy commercial complex—home to restaurants, shops, and residential units—and left a 26-year-old man dead inside his vehicle.
The attack took place shortly before 1:00 PM this Monday at the intersection of Avenida del Roble and Bulevar Botánico, in the Valle del Campestre neighborhood.
According to initial reports, multiple gunshots were heard.
After receiving the report via the C4 emergency center, officers from the Public Security Secretariat—working in coordination with Civil Protection personnel—mobilized to the scene to secure the perimeter.
Upon arrival, authorities located a vehicle, inside which the driver was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Paramedics attempted to resuscitate him for several minutes; however, they ultimately confirmed that he no longer showed any vital signs.
Driver Murdered in San Pedro Identified; Lived in Monterrey
Preliminarily, the victim was identified as Juan Carlos García Núñez, 26, who was reportedly traveling in a white Jeep SUV. It was also reported that he resided in the Vista Hermosa neighborhood within the municipality of Monterrey.
Furthermore, reports emerged—though not yet officially confirmed—that the victim’s relatives stated the young man worked at a residence in the very sector where the attack took place. Other accounts suggest he worked as a driver.
According to the San Pedro Police report, the vehicle in which the victim was traveling—who died after sustaining five gunshot wounds—had been issued a traffic citation by a Traffic Police officer prior to the incident.
The area was cordoned off by police officers, while investigative agents and forensic experts began collecting evidence in an effort to determine the motive behind the attack and apprehend those responsible. No arrests have been reported in connection with the crime.
Traffic Halted for Investigation
Following the incident, as the day progressed, additional officers from the municipality of San Pedro arrived to secure the scene.
They directed motorists to proceed with caution or seek alternate routes in order to prevent accidents or travel delays—all under the watchful eyes of citizens who inquired about the incident that had just taken place.
As a result of the incident, Roble Street was closed to traffic, and vehicles were diverted onto Manuel Gómez Morín Avenue, causing congestion in the area.
