What happened
AF Medios reports Godoy’s account of three outstanding warrants and alleged prison-contract and tax offenses, with any deportation dependent on U.S. immigration authorities.
Reporting and context
Attorney General Ernestina Godoy said three Mexican federal arrest warrants remain outstanding against Inés “N,” who was detained in Florida on October 30, according to AF Medios. One warrant concerns alleged organized crime and transactions involving illicit proceeds; two concern alleged offenses treated as tax fraud under Mexican law.
AF Medios reported that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) alleges she received illicit funds in personal bank accounts through front companies involved in diverting public money from the federal prison administration. Godoy put the contracts under investigation at approximately 2.45 billion pesos. The funds were intended for the security of Mexico’s prison system, and prosecutors allege the companies simulated transactions to conceal the money’s destination.
The separate tax allegations concern returns for 2014 and 2016. According to the FGR account reproduced by the outlet, she allegedly reported less income than she earned, resulting in more than 13 million pesos in unpaid taxes.
Godoy said Mexico requested her provisional arrest for extradition in September 2025 and prepared a formal request in coordination with the U.S. Justice Department. Authorities exchanged information in recent weeks and delivered the outstanding warrants to their U.S. counterparts.
The attorney general said the Florida detention currently concerns her immigration status, a matter for U.S. authorities. If they decide to deport her, the FGR intends to execute the Mexican warrants immediately on her arrival. The report describes that step as conditional and leaves the determination of criminal responsibility to Mexican courts.
